Growing up in Florida, Elizabeth discovered her passion for riding at the age of three. She pursued her horsemanship with a few ponies and entered in several different hunter/jumper classes. Soon, however, she became aware of the exciting worlds of both Show Jumping and Dressage and has been happily concentrating on these equestrian disciplines.
Once Elizabeth had outgrown ponies, she was ready for a horse. Her mother had bred her own mare to Fleming from Iron Spring Farms and gave birth to Elizabeth’s new horse, Fielding. Talk about a match made in heaven! Elizabeth and Fielding continued on to compete in several dressage competitions nation wide, and cleaned house everywhere they went.
In 2003 she was accepted into training under the tutelage of USDF Gold Medalist, Brian MacMahon to further her knowledge of dressage. She moved to Lake City, FL that year and was in full training with her gelding, Fielding.
While in Lake City, Elizabeth had the opportunity to clinic with several top riders including, Emile Faurie, an Olympic medalist from Oxfordshire England, and Herwig Radnetter from the Spanish riding school in Vienna Austria. She also had the opportunity to work with Dede Beirbauer, an S judge and top grand prix dressage rider. Elizabeth successfully competed through the FEI levels while furthering her knowledge in Dressage.
After furthering her education in Dressage, Elizabeth decided that she needed to brush up on her Show Jumping, especially considering her current horse at that point, Jap, was a Grand Prix jumper. Elizabeth put her feelers out and was presented with the opportunity to ride, train and work with multiple top jumper trainers including, Pablo Barrios, Nona Garson, Eric Lamaze, and Vick Russel to name a few. She successfully competed through level 8 open Jumpers.
She continued her love of horses while attending Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, which gave her almost a full scholarship to ride for their top ranked riding teams! Talk about a bonus! There, realizing Elizabeth’s ability to ride and train, her peers pushed her to open her own riding business, Mirson Equestrian. Elizabeth received her degree in Equine Studies, while working full time for the local Equine Veterinarian as his right hand, all in addition to Mirson Equestrian of course. She had a full plate to say at the least! Riding for her college, Elizabeth led her team to victory at both IDA and IHSA nationals, in both 2009 and 2010. In addition to nationals, while in college Elizabeth acquired both her USDF Bronze and Silver Medals. After earning her medals, her national championship titles and her degree, she moved back to Florida to further her equestrian career.
Soon after moving back to Florida, Elizabeth was offered the opportunity to train under Fritz Pape in Sindlingen Germany. Immediately, Elizabeth jumped on a plane and was riding full time for Mr. Pape. She fell in love with the country and the horses and was able to make many contacts while learning a great deal. To this day, Elizabeth still travels back and forth to Germany on a regular basis.
After training all over the world, gaining knowledge and experience from the best, creating forever contacts both nationally and internationally, and collecting some of the most sought after awards, Elizabeth still calls Florida her home.
